Decisions...

Decisions Decisions Done

It is a privilege to make a decision especially over things in your life. Refer to this and you'll realise some of are quite lucky. Some are so lucky to have enough choices to falter and cause themself grief over... the really lucky ones. The ability to choose correctly and be content is hard. Mainly because there is no right answer, ever. Retrospect is amazing but not helpful because we cannot change the past!

Questions that make us annoyed at answering them are the real questions worth answering:

Should I continue to go to school?
What school should I go to?
What should I study?
Is university something I need or want?
Which university should I go to?
Where do I head to afterwards?
What if none of the above are options?
What do I like to do?

High school students are of particular significance to this because choosing the right university degree or whether going to university often means a very narrow path down the track. The idea is that choosing one thing filters away other opportunities. That is not true. It's merely changes the length of time that you might see your hard work come to fruition.

Decisions about your schooling is correlated to future career aspirations but definitely not the be all or end all. It's never that you are locked in, such as choosing your a degree or job, forever.

- Studying engineering doesn't mean you can't be a chiropractor.
- Studying law doesn't mean you can't be a philanthropist.
- Not studying medicine doesn't mean you can't be doctor. You get the point.

What happens once you do make a decision like where you want to work or where you want to go to school? It will all connect together in the end. (Edit: Connecting the dots!)

To make a decision at a young age, and don't deny all of us are still young, is scary. Asking for help is definitely warranted and parents should play a significant part as they have a wealth of experience. Knowing what you want to do is quite unreasonable given the limited time you get to experience all the world has to offer so think positive when you make a decision and be confident in what you decide. There's always another path.
