Earliness

the alarm clock

The story of when your parents told you to be prepared about _____ and you didn't... So silly.

Prose
The age old adage of "getting in early and being prepared" cannot be underestimated in written job applications.

Example 1 (Skip if already reminiscing about all those regretful times...)
When teachers and parents told us students to be prepared for year twelve by "researching" about universities so that we didn't need to worry about it when our final exams were coming up. What happened?  It resulted in late nights right before crucial tests learning about how to apply for medicine and regretting why we didn't start sooner. Wished we did it in the joyful summer holidays when we had time!

Real Tip is Given Below, Here
"Apply For Jobs When Applications Open". Not when the cohort are all applying at same the deadline and your fantastic application is lost in volume. Timestapped applications databases are listed according to time of application!

Please. Apply Early. Get your s&*t (suit) together. It makes you look good and prepared as well.

Reasoning
Recruiters like to look at the application database every minute of the day to see if they have advertised enough and have attracted enough talent to select someone amazing (if not... o oh..). They are tempted to have a sneak peak. So without any distractions they can look at your application without having any rush and more relevantly any real standard to compare it to. If you have what they are looking for you are already winning (pathfolios got this contempary joke from Mr Sheen) and get kept in the winners pile.

There are flow on positives like you get more time for those later applications as well. pathfolios find they ask very similar questions anyway.

Afraid of making mistakes?
Good. Mistakes are unfortunately part of the process but if you've already begun refining your resume, cover letter and application questions it can only get better. pathfolios wouldn't recommend applying for your dream job first though... First applications sent through sometimes have screaming at computer screens and hair pulling. Avoid that please; think of those innocent hair follicles!

Now what?

Start now!
